Click the map below to see businesses that have committed to being INDIVISIBLE and welcoming to all. Join our canvassing team to reach out to even more businesses and organizations.
Let’s get the community involved! We will be canvassing neighborhoods around the city in an effort to gain the support of businesses, civic organizations, and affinity groups. The goal is to create a welcoming community by encouraging volunteers to get their favorite stores, barbershops, local grocery stores, book clubs, local pubs, and sports leagues to display the INDIVISIBLE sticker.

Collectively, we can create a message of unity. Volunteers will be able to canvas assigned neighborhoods around the city, or simply reach out to those places and groups to which they already belong.

What are some of things you will be doing as a volunteer:
You will be asking businesses, civic organizations, and affinity groups to join INDIVISIBLE by taking these specific actions:

  • Displaying the INDIVISIBLE logo is only the beginning, we are seeking to create conversation, and proactively encourage businesses and organizations to be welcoming by:
  • Reaffirming your business non-discrimination policy and proudly displaying it where employees and customers can see it. Why is this important? Showcasing your policy highlights your commitment to these values. Click here for additional information.
  • Displaying welcoming signs in other languages. Why is this important? We are an increasingly diverse city, and not everyone can read English. Posting a sign in a different language sends a welcoming message to people who might speak Spanish, Arabic, Kurdish or other languages. Click here for additional information and design for the welcoming sign.
  • Encouraging your employees or coworkers to be patient toward patrons/members/clients who have difficulties communicating in English. Why is this important? Not knowing the language is already a barrier and it takes courage to ask for help.
  • Standing up to and defusing discriminatory acts and language.  Why is this important? Taking a stand for someone is the right thing to do and it sets a precedent for others to do the same. Lead by example. Click here for additional information.
  • Accepting foreign government issued forms of identification at your business, including passports or “matricula consular.” Why is this important? Many members of our community do not have access to Tennessee or US based IDs.

Other options for engagement:

  1. Sign up for our list of INDIVISIBLE businesses. We will be creating an online list accessible to our families, donors and supporters. We will encourage them to visit and shop at your establishment. (Coming Soon)
  2. Spread the word about INDIVISIBLE and handout information and stickers to your customers. We will provide all of the materials.
