Programs for Latino Families

Social Integration

Information, Referrals and Assistance
We connect Latino families with information, resources and assistance to address immediate needs (from translating a birth certificate to finding an affordable apartment) through our ENLACES program.

Conversational English
We connect Latino adults who want to improve their conversational English with English-speaking mentors who in turn want to practice and improve their Spanish. Our CONVERSEMOS Language Exchange Program allows for a real-world cross-cultural experience.

Economic Integration

Financial Education
We connect Latino families with knowledge about the US financial system and about personal finance through our SEMBRANDO SEMILLAS/PLANTING SEEDS FOR A SECURE FINANCIAL FUTURE workshops and our annual AVANCE! conference.

Taxpayer Education and Tax Return Preparation

We connect Latino workers with quality information about the US tax system and about their tax rights and responsibilities through workshops and a media campaign. We also provide direct assistance to prepare and file tax returns.

Homeownership
We connect Latino families with financial education, counseling, down-payment assistance and financing to buy their own home through our national-award
winning program, PUERTAS ABIERTAS.

Entrepreneurship
We connect Latino business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs with basic tools and information on how to start and grow a business through our 5-week NEGOCIO PROSPERO course.

Civic Integration

Grassroots Leadership Development
Through our Hispanic Community Advisory Council, we nurture the leadership potential and civic engagement of low- and moderate-income Latino families.

Advocacy, Community Outreach and Education
We promote understanding of the presence, contributions and challenges faced by Latino families in Tennessee. We also advocate for policies in the public and private sectors that recognize Latino immigrants as contributors to the progress and vitality of our communities, and for policies that contribute to the well-being of Latino families and the community at-large.
