Casa Azafrán Park

In 2018, Conexión Américas worked with the community and Metro Parks to design a vibrant green space where the communities living in Southeast Nashville could relax, play and be together in community. To design the park, Conexión Américas held multiple public forums asking the community what they would like to see in a green space- many of these ideas and concepts have been incorporated into the park’s design, including a splash pad which children can enjoy in the hot summer months. In the park you will find the Italian Collective Cracking Art Snail Sculptures. The snail was picked as an important symbol because it carries its home on its back. You will also find the Roots & Routes International Coin Mural- a mosaic of coins from dozens of countries around the world collected and donated by community members and spearheaded by the Rotary Club, and finally the Flight Pavilions, whose sloping roof mirrors the wings of a bird in flight- once again – a beautiful symbol of migration.
