Conexión Américas seeks qualified candidates for the Youth Enrichment Assistant position. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish and experience working with children aged 3-15. Experience with childcare, education, babysitting, or nannying is preferred. An understanding of or interest in creating developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities for youth is also desired.
The ideal candidate will be highly organized, compassionate, creative, adaptable to working with people of diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds, and passionate about working with youth. This position requires native-level fluency in Spanish. Please note that part of the interview will be conducted in Spanish.

Position Overview
This is a part-time staff position reporting to the Associate Director of Family Engagement. The Youth Enrichment Assistant will be responsible for planning and implementing childcare activities and coordinating volunteers for the Padres Comprometidos (Parents as Partners) program—a 9-week series of workshops designed to help Latino parents understand and engage with the school system.
Youth enrichment activities are offered during all in-person programs, serving children aged 3-5 at elementary school sites and 3-15 at middle school sites. The Youth Enrichment Assistant will implement childcare programming at 4-5 school sites per semester, either through direct service or by coordinating volunteers and childcare assistants.
This position requires a flexible schedule, primarily available:
- Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays mornings: 8:15–10:45 AM
- Tuesdays and Thursdays evenings: 5:45–8:15 PM
Candidates must have general availability during these time slots and reliable transportation.
Key Responsibilities
Youth Enrichment Programming
- Develop 2-3 developmentally appropriate activities per workshop
- Prepare, set up, and clean up all activity materials
- Revise and update activities as needed
- Coordinate with external partners for special activity workshops (as available)
- Provide a safe, engaging, and respectful environment for youth
- Supervise youth attentively at all times
- Ensure students remain within view and do not use school equipment or roam hallways
- Return the childcare room to its original condition after each session; clean and organize all materials
- Report any damages or maintenance issues immediately to the supervisor
- Maintain sign-in/out records and attendance logs
- Arrive 15 minutes early to prepare and greet families
- Communicate promptly with the program coordinator regarding any incidents or needs during workshops
Childcare Assistant & Volunteer Coordination
- Recruit, interview, and onboard childcare volunteers and paid childcare assistants.
- Coordinate required background checks and training for all childcare providers.
- Conduct training and review expectations with volunteers and assistants.
- Monitor volunteer performance and address issues as needed in collaboration with program staff.
- Track volunteer hours and assist with preparing timesheets
- Support additional outreach and implementation needs for the Padres Comprometidos program as needed.
Qualifications
- Native-level fluency in Spanish required
- High school diploma required
- Strong written and oral communication skills in both English and Spanish required; biculturalism preferred
- Flexibility, creativity, initiative, and teamwork are required
- Ability and comfort caring for youth in both English and Spanish
- Experience interacting with diverse groups of stakeholders
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and basic database management
- Reliable transportation required
- Ability to carry up to 50 lbs required
- Appreciation for Latino culture and community is required
- Successful completion of the required background check
Compensation & Schedule
- Hourly rate: $25.50
- Weekly hours: 15–20 hours per week during the school year (based on programming needs)
- Weekly schedule coordinated each semester based on program dates and candidate availability
- Summer hours: Significantly reduced (approximately 5–10 hours per week)
