Mónica began her career working in higher education and saw the difficulties students faced when they didn’t have the right tools and support along the way. Working with our Padres Comprometidos (Parents as Partners) program for parents of students in the Casa Azafrán Pre-K, she is able to empower parents to help their children get the best start and succeed in school. She loves the energy and creativity of the pre-K students and parents who are so eager to be involved in their children’s education.

Mónica believes in cherishing students’ talent, creativity, cultural heritage and language skills to brighten their future.

Born and raised in Bogotá Colombia, she moved to the United States to pursue her degree in International Studies from Ohio State University. Mónica claims she moved to Nashville in 2010 to escape the snow! When she is not working, Mónica loves to spend time with her husband (who is from Ecuador) and young daughter and try new recipes and dishes from different cultures.
