Position Summary:
The Production Technician I is an entry-level role responsible for supporting the assembly, testing, and packaging of computer server hardware in a high-volume manufacturing environment. The Production Technician I performs diagnostics and troubleshooting of computer hardware and software applications while performing and assisting the repair process. The Production Technician I is responsible for ensuring product quality through repairing and testing of product to ensure production specifications are met. The Production Technician I documents issues and reports potential quality related problems to Quality Management.
Essential Functions:
• Identify defects and/or flaws in routine parts and/or production.
• Repair or replace parts as necessary for servers.
• Use tools and test equipment of various types, to repair servers.
• Disassemble and/or reassemble units according to the applicable work instructions.
• Order correct parts using the proper procedures using the damage materials review (DMR) tool.
• Test units according to work instructions and process flows.
• Inspect products to ensure correct labeling.
• Accurately complete production documentation and track work where appropriate.
• Enter repair data accurately into the Quanta manufacturing system (QMS) shop floor system.
• Document and communicate repair issues to engineering.
• Perform data collection and analysis for use in problem solving.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation (5S standards).
• Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor/manager.
Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• One (1) to two (2) or more years’ experience in a related field, computer science, engineering tech or similar field.
• Associate’s degree preferred.
• One or more IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Cisco CCNA preferred.
Physical Requirements:
• Work is in a typical manufacturing environment; temperatures are controlled but sometimes can be warmer or colder than typical office settings.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to distinguish colors.
• Ability to stand/sit for long periods.
• Ability to stoop/bend to look under, over and around items.
• Ability to stay still and/or move around on cement floors for long periods.
