POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

Conexión Américas seeks qualified candidates for the position of Development Manager.  The successful candidate will support an integrated approach to fundraising and external relations at Conexión Américas. This position helps to advance Conexión Américas’ mission by sustaining and expanding our community of supporters and fostering relationships that result in long-lasting goodwill and financial support for our mission. The Development Manager supports all of the organization’s fundraising development initiatives, and is the lead for the individual fundraising strategy. The Development Manager also plays a key role in the management of the organizational culture plan and the Casa Azafrán Art Gallery.  

 

This full-time position reports to the Director of Development and Strategic Growth.

 

Salary range based on experience and other relevant qualifications: $53,000-$55,000

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Fundraising

  • Work with the Director of Development and Strategic Growth to:
  • Lead the individual fundraising strategy in order to meet the organizational fundraising goals, by managing relationships with monthly donors and leading fundraising campaigns. 
  • Lead donor stewardship efforts including donor appreciation and thanking donors. 
  • Support meeting the annual corporate fundraising goal by managing corporate sponsorships, managing the Corporate Volunteer program and newsletter, coordinating corporate volunteers, and corporate grant writing. 
  • Lead data administration related to donor information including donor input, data actualization, and donation tracking, reporting and reconciliation. 
  • Provide support on foundation grant writing, as needed. 
  • Lead the tracking, documentation and solicitation of in-kind donations. 
  • Support the Communications and Marketing team in the creation of social media, content and design, for the development fundraising strategy. 

 

Culture

 

  • Provide administrative support and leadership to activities related to organizational people and culture activities, including acting as the lead for the organizational culture committee.

Community Engagement 

  • Manage the Casa Azafrán Art Gallery, including art gallery projects, booking, logistics, and the art gallery website. 
  • Serve as a representative for Conexión Américas to build and strengthen relationships and expand our supporter base by participating in development booths and development related speaking engagement, as needed. 
  • Provide tours of Casa Azafrán.

 

Event Planning and Support 

 

  • Provide logistical support for special development events including annual fundraisers such as Cafecito, Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration & Awards Ceremony, Battle of the Paellas and other events. 

 

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed above. As with every other position at Conexión Américas, every person in the organization will assist in any way necessary to respond to new demands and to assure a cooperative environment.

 

Qualifications (Education and Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree, required
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends, as needed 
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in nonprofit fundraising, external relations, communications or related field
  • Must be comfortable conducting fundraising activities, including making asks via the phone, in-person and by other means of communication. 
  • Experience and very comfortable working with data systems, Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel and data management  
  • Exceptional written, oral communications and public speaking skills
  • Ability to effectively build and nurture relationships with diverse individuals
  • Command of Spanish language preferred, but not required
  • Capacity to be a “tough-minded optimist,” always acting to solve problems with energy and a positive attitude required
  • Enjoys working in fast-paced work environments 
  • High attention to detail 
  • Must have access to reliable transportation  
  • Willing and able to provide hands-on logistical support during event planning. 
  • Self-motivated, well-organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Flexibility, creativity and capacity to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Must pass background check
  • Strong understanding of Latino culture and Latino issues in the US, preferred
