A note from Renata:

Last week I experienced my first NCLR conference as board chair accompanied by the next generation of Latina leaders–three Conexión Américas staff members and four students from our NCLR Escalera program at Glencliff High School. How proud I am to take Nashville and Conexión Américas to the national spotlight for the next three years. It’s an honor and tremendous responsiblity to help lead the nation’s largest Latino civil rights and advocacy organization.

The Conexión Américas Board of Directors is pleased to announce a new milestone in the organization’s leadership on a national level. Executive Director Renata Soto has been named as Chair of the NCLR Board of Directors. The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) is the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States— and works to improve opportunities for Latinos. Renata is the first Central American and first Tennessean to serve in this important leadership role.

“Through her exemplary work at Conexión Américas, Renata has built a reputation as a fierce advocate for Latinos and a valuable asset for the Nashville community with the leadership skills and vision to achieve everything that she sets out to accomplish. Conexión Américas has become a model for nonprofits across the country thanks in part to Renata’s determination to help Latinos achieve the American Dream. We are excited to welcome Renata as the new Chair of the Board of Directors at NCLR, a position in which she will certainly leave her stamp on the organization.” Janet Murguía, NCLR President and CEO.
